About Mrs. Cory Kunicky, M.Ed., NCC, LPC

I have been in the field of education for thirteen years and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for seven years. I completed my undergraduate degree from Penn State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, with an option in Children, Youth and Families. I continued on to California University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 2004 with a Master of Education and a dual certification in Elementary and Secondary School Counseling. I immediately entered the education field upon completing my degree and experienced profound joy in the school setting. I have worked with both elementary and secondary students, but my focus has been with elementary students; specifically grades K-5. As a school counselor, I have become very aware that children require more therapeutic resources than the school setting can offer. It is with this observation that I have an increased desire to shift my focus to an office setting. It is my belief that counseling can provide individuals with successful tools to manage life in a healthy, therapeutic manner. Each developmental milestone is marked with specific challenges and it is my goal to help individuals process and recover from life’s struggles with confidence and resiliency.

I use a varied approach in the counseling setting and I tailor each session to the individual. The theoretical approaches I utilize include, but are not limited to; cognitive behavioral, solution-focused and reality therapy. I have provided counseling services for individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, defiance, anger, physical, verbal and sexual abuse, grief, poverty, sexual identity awareness, decreased self-esteem, Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression, crisis, self-harm, adoption, foster care, divorce, adjustment disorders, career and educational awareness , homelessness, suicidal ideations, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and other social and behavioral challenges.

I am proud to work with the other counselors here at Sanderson Psychological to offer the surrounding communities with the most recent and effective evidenced based practices the counseling field has to offer. I am confident that we can conquer life’s obstacles together and I can help you gain a deeper understanding into your thoughts and behaviors.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, eating out and listening to music. I also never met a pug I didn’t love!
