About Beth Polovina , MS

I have enjoyed helping people all my life. I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte in 2008. From there, I spent several years teaching at Waynesburg University and WCCC. I then earned my MS in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I feel like my path from writing to teaching to counseling has been a natural progression that has equipped me with the skills and compassion to reach people where they are, help them to see new perspectives, and believe in their ability to complete the hard work of improving their lives. I take great pleasure in helping people come to know and love themselves.

I am an EMDR trained therapist, and I am passionate about helping others heal those trauma wounds that just feel stuck or frozen in place. The wounds that manifest as reactions we don’t like having but cannot stop no matter how hard and how many ways we try. We understand with our brains, but we respond with our emotions in ways that complicate our lives and relationships. EMDR is a powerful tool that helps to bridge that gap between the head and the heart to bring healing to the trauma and wounds of our past.

I am not limited to working with only trauma survivors. I see children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism, and many other concerns. I also really enjoy working with couples and families. My approach to therapy is eclectic–meaning that I pull from a variety of counseling methods to find the right fit for each client and each individual situation. I would be honored to work with your needs and develop a plan that best fits you.

I am also a wife, mom, and step-mom. My family is large and so is the number of fur babies that we spoil rotten. I love reading, writing, crafting, and crocheting. I’m not so much of an afghan maker. I love making different things, such as a pumpkin garland or a tiny cat wearing a frog hoodie…which I really did make, by the way.
