About Dr. Brooke Sanderson, PsyD

I have been working in private practice for seven years, but have been working in the mental health field for twelve. I received my undergraduate psychology degree from Penn State University in 2008. I graduated from Carlow University with my Master’s of Science degree in Professional Counseling in 2010. I received my doctorate from Carlow University in Counseling Psychology in 2015, and am currently licensed as a psychologist.

Throughout my time as a student I had the opportunity to work with many college students (of many different ages and of many diverse backgrounds) while completing practicum hours at California University of Pennsylvania’s Counseling Center and Carnegie Mellon’s Counseling Center. I also completed an APPIC accredited internship at Cleveland State University’s Counseling Center.

I have helped people who have struggled with anxiety, depression, psychosis, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, sexual identity concerns, personality disorders, thought disorders, grief and loss, parenting concerns, trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, substance abuse and dependence, addictions (gambling, sex, internet, video games), self-harm behaviors, suicidal ideation, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, spirituality concerns, abortion concerns, sleep issues, family conflict, couples issues, infidelity and divorce, chronic pain issues, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and behavioral issues in children.

I am a believer in attachment parenting, and I’m passionate about working with new mothers.  I also have a special place in my heart for working with adolescents and the LGBTQIA+ population.

Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities, particularly paddle boarding and jogging, and I also love a good yoga class. I am an animal and nature lover, and believe that snuggling with pets can cure some of what ails you. I also enjoy trying out new restaurants in the Pittsburgh area.
