Cory Kunicky, M.Ed., NCC, LPC

I have been working in the mental health field for over twenty years. I completed my undergraduate degree from Penn State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, with an option in Children, Youth and Families. I continued on to California University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 2004 with a Master of Education and a dual certification in Elementary and Secondary School Counseling. Throughout my professional experiences, I have worked in community mental health, elementary/middle/high schools, and now private practice.

As a school counselor, I became very aware that children, adolescents, and families require more therapeutic resources than the school setting can offer. It was with that observation that I shifted my career to private practice. It is my belief that counseling can provide individuals with successful tools to manage life in a healthy, therapeutic manner. Each developmental milestone is marked with specific challenges and it is my goal to help individuals process and recover from life’s struggles with confidence and resilience.

I used a varied approach in the counseling setting and I tailor each session to the individual. The theoretical approaches I utilize include, but are not limited to; cognitive behavioral, solution-focused and reality therapy. I have provided counseling services for individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, defiance, anger, physical, verbal and sexual abuse, grief, poverty, sexual identity awareness, decreased self-esteem, Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression, crisis, self-harm, adoption, foster care, divorce, adjustment disorders, career and educational awareness, ‘homelessness, suicidal ideations, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and other social and behavioral challenges.

I enthusiastically joined Sanderson Psychological, LLC in June 2017. I am proud to work with Dr. Sanderson to offer the surrounding communities with the most recent and most effective evidenced based practices the counseling field has to offer. I am confident that we can conquer life’s obstacles together and I can help you gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts and behaviors.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, and listening to music. I also never met a pug I didn’t love!
