Christine Kalinik, MSW, LCSW
Hi, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. After graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, I started my career at UPMC Magee Women's Hospital, where I had the pleasure of working with women in all stages of life. I continue to work with Magee Behavioral Health, focusing on people during their perinatal period up to one year postpartum. I have spent time working in palliative care and hospice, and at a VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Along with my many years of experience with UPMC in various roles, I have worked in a private practice since 2014, before joining the wonderful group at Sanderson Psychological in July of 2024.
I feel that every individual brings their personal history, unique worldview, and own values to therapy. As your therapist, I see it as essential to embrace these aspects of you to help you on the path to change. With this approach, my aim is to empower you to better understand your genuine self and help you evolve by building healthier insight into your desires and goals.
Life takes you on detours: adjusting to major life changes, struggling with roadblocks, or even finding a new direction altogether. When facing these challenges, it may be difficult to ask for help, life's difficulties, though, are not meant to be faced alone. My approach to counseling is considerate of the whole person, relational, and individualized, tailoring clinical approaches to your unique journey. My clinical style is integrative, as I tailor the work we do together to your individual needs and desires for therapy. I utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Feminist Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and always utilize a strengths-based approach. I am an ally to the LGBTQ community.
Alongside my professional work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with family. I meditate daily and practice yoga, and truly believe in the physical and behavioral health benefits that come with seeing our mind, body, and spirits as inextricably connected.
