Donald Sharbaugh, M.S., LPC, NCC
My name is Donald, but I typically go by Donny. I graduated from CALU in 2017 with my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I then went on to get my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and graduated in 2019.
My personal view on counseling is that I try to meet the client where they are. If you want to go over skills, we can go over skills; if you want to talk about your stressors and just want somebody to talk to about your problems, we can do that, too! I try not to give people too much “advice”, but there will be times that I may suggest different strategies that I believe may help in your situation. I have the view that every client knows themselves much more than I will ever know since I may only be with you 1 hour a week, while you are with yourself all of the time – you are the expert in your own life. I am non-judgmental and will not diminish the choices that you make; it is not my job to “change” you, but to help with any problems that you may be having.
I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Motivational Interviewing (MI).
In my free time, I enjoy being with family and going to different parks or just sitting around and watching TV.
