Kristina Schuerle, M.S., LPC, NCC
Hello! My name is Kristina Schuerle. I am a graduate from Marshall University getting my master's degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019 and have been working in the mental field for the last 8 years. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work from Ohio University back in 2013. I am currently working towards obtaining my LPC. In addition, I have earned certificates in grief/loss and trauma and structural family therapy. Throughout my own life journey, I have recognized how trauma and family dynamics can greatly impact mental health and well-being.
Music can be therapeutic, and I enjoy incorporating it into the sessions. From an early age, I have been exposed to classical piano music and enjoy playing in my home or at church as a way of coping with life stressors. I also believe that faith and spirituality greatly influence one's well-being. As a Christian, I continue to grow in my own relationship with God and would love to have the opportunity to explore your spiritual/religious beliefs and values if requested.
I utilize the person-centered and supportive approach known as Rogerian therapy that focuses on unconditional positive regard and empathic understanding. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families experiencing communication difficulties, anger and stress management, anxiety and depression, mood disorders, traumatic grief and loss, life transitions and perinatal mood disorders. I also would like to help those who are on a journey to living a healthier lifestyle focused on weight loss and exercise.
In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing on my porch listening to music with my husband, playing outside with my son and labradoodle, or hanging out around a campfire with friends.
